"The 28 Buell and Harley-Davidson motorcycles will first be shipped to the Motor Company’s Dominican Republic dealership organization MagnaMotors before being delivered to the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti. The motorcycles will be used by for disaster relief and stabilization efforts in the Caribbean nation. Haiti suffered an earthquake Jan. 12, and several countries and organizations have offered humanitarian aid. The donated motorcycles will later remain as a permanent donation to the government of Haiti." Unless they're sold at auction and the proceeds donated, would this really help?
What can I do with 100+ photo negatives of Harley-Davidson motorcycles taken in the late 20s and early 30s? The batch of negatives I have also contain images of old bi-panes and automobiles, but mostly contain images of vintage Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Some of the images are taken just outside the manufacturing plant in Milwaukee, some are taken at time trial events, some are of members of the Princeton Motorcycle Club, and many are taken of just the bikes themselves. Why are Harley Davidson motorcycles so expecive? I like HD motorcycles but they are so outrageously expencive. Some people say because they are made in the USA and since the labour costs here are much higher then abroad the company has to offer their products with a higher price tag. That is not necessarily true though since a lot of the parts are not even American and are just asembled here. I have a question about Harley Davidson motorcycles- please help if you have H-D experience? Hello from England! I'll cut straight to the chase. I passed my CBT and first rode a Honda C90 Cub. Then a Yamaha DT 125, which I have now. My Direct Access is in a fortnight as I now want to move on to bigger bikes. I love cruisers, and so obviously I've always looked towards H-D. The Sportster XL883L has caught my eye and is within my price range of £5000-£6000. All the others in the range are either too expensive or look too modern. Would the Sportster be a good choice- does it look enough like a true, timeless cruiser in the flesh, in your opinion? Does it have the famous H-D sound? Are H-Ds generally suited to the UK? The reason I want a new bike is so that I can start it off stock and modify it later if I wish, to my own specifications. I know some people hate H-D. Would a Triumph cruiser, like the America, be worth looking into? I want to stay away from the Jap moderls. Are cruisers in general suitable for a younger rider on their first 'big' bike? Is the performance novice-friendly? Any experienced and sensible insight welcome. Thanks!
Are you afraid of Harley Davidson motorcycles? Given, if our cars were that loud with blue neon lights rumbling neighborhoods in large groups.. we'd get pulled over like the gumball rally attempting America in thier exotic cars. What makes them legal on thier machines.. some with no suspension? and most with straight pipes going beyond 90 decibals. What a threatening joy (sarcasm) to sit beside, or behind them at a redlight, as most don't hesitate to yell over thier machines' noise "Sh*t, ass, f*ck, p*ss, or c*nt" in ways I never thought possible. Harley Davidson motorcycles - why??? Why oh why oh why do so many fat middle-aged men think that Harley's are "cool"? There's a Harley showroom near where I live, and every Saturday, regular as clockwork, several dozen aging, greying old men get dropped off at the Harley place by their wives IN FULL LEATHERS and then proceed to "hang out" looking at those travesty of motorcycles before being picked up again an hour or so later. Best of all though, they all have top-rockers proclaiming their allegience to a certain "chapter". Do these guys think they're the Hell's Angels? They just look very very sad indeed. Are you one of the aforementioned "bikers"? If so, why do you do it? Have you no shame or taste? If you want to ride motorbikes, that's cool, but for God's sake, get a DECENT bike. No one thinks you're the Hell's Angels - you are all far too sqeaky-clean, and I'm pretty sure that the half-dozen or so Angels that I know would either find it hilarious, or would be very insulted. PS - to all the Americans - this was actually posted in the UK section.... Why are you all so defensive? It's the people, not the bike. Or rather, a specific set of people. I just love the guy who started his response with "punk". Oh shit, I'm sooo scared. And as for that "drop me off at a Harley bikers bar" just made me howl with laughter. Fat, middle aged men just arent scary. Still, got a decent response, mainly from rednecks I guess. And for the record, I don't ride a bike since I got "Volvoed" off my Ducati a couple of years back when I was back in the UK on leave, having finished a tour in the middle-east. Difficult to ride with one leg and an arm that won't work properly!
