Does a car tire merely only have the rubber outer part and a metal chrome rim? So I have corrosion on the metal wheel of my back car. The mechanic says that the corrosion is causing a leak. I have to buy a used wheel. I can't imagine I can't sand it or take a wire brush to the corrosion. Do you mean to tell me that the only thing between the outer rubber tire and the metal wheel is AIR? I always thought there was some sort of tube. Am I wrong?

Best polish product to get rid of chrome rust spots on a car? On my classic car, theres small brown spec dots all over all the chrome parts(I think it's rust but I'm not sure). What is the best chrome polish to use to get rid of these spots and shine the chrome up nice? I tried Mother's Chrome Polish but that didn't help at all, I also tried aluminum foil and water...that just turned the water I was rubbing in black, also trying foil and vinegar. Nothing seems to work, I still have foil and cola to try and I heard Turtle Wax chrome polish(stuff that looks like it's in a oil bottle) is very good as well. Well now I'm beginning to think it's not chrome rust because nothing seems to work. Anyways what's the best rust remover polish to get rid of this problem?

Classic car chrome wheels made of? I'm just trying to get something straight. I am about to buy some rally wheels for my 1968 camaro and am deciding between original and aftermarket. They look the same so thats not really an issue. neither is price because I can get them for the same price. But what were the original ones made of? Surely they werent solid chrome were they? The aftermarket ones claim to be steel with a mirror like chrome face, and the center caps are supposedly a strong ABS chrome plastic. I'm mainly just wondering about the composition of the originals and if they have any real advantage over the new wheels, other than originality...but honestly, my car isnt numbers matching and it doesnt bother me to have reproduction parts on my car. Does anyone know how I can put the chrome strips back onto my beautiful 1985 Oldsmobile? Where can I send my oem wheels to get them chrome? I have a 1998 Mustang GT and I've been looking around the Houston area for some chrome oem wheels for my car, I know they made them but with limited quantity back in 1998, I looked for them on eBay with no luck, so my last resort is send the ones I have to get them chrome, the reason why I want to do that is because I don't like Saleen wheels or Cobra wheels on a GT, I'm a strong believer that if you like Cobra wheels buy yourself a Cobra but don't use different parts on different cars, so if anyone know of a place around the Houston area where they chrome wheels just let me know.

Are wheel covers a good investment? I looked at purchasing some Chrome rims for my new car, but they are extremely expensive. I noticed some auto parts tores sell chrome wheel covers. Do these look cheap? Will they still make my car look cool? Any suggestions of how to upgrade my looks at a reasonable price? Also - can you not drive in snow and salt with chrome? The want to get some info and advice on prices, websties and retailers for Extended Warrnties, Wheels, tires, parts, grilles and chroming shops. On the extended warrnty we are finding it hard to get ay quotes on an aftermarket warranty in CA, WHY? Is true you can only buy in from the dealership in CA? where to buy AC vents for a car, with a design inspired by airplane vents? A while ago I remember seeing air conditioner vents in cars that were designed like the air vent things on most passenger planes. (whatever southwest uses, you probably know what I mean). This was either a show covering an auto show, or a show covering tuner cars. this part was a bit larger than the ones seen in planes and looked nicer with use of some chrome. What weight oil do I put in a 460 Ford Engine? Where do I add the oil? THere is a removable cap where I can add it on the top right part of the engine (if I am looking at it from the front of the car). There are two large chrome pieces (one on either side of the air filter) do I add it here?

What were the last year and model cars sold in the US that had no plastic body parts? I just had my car smogged and there was a 1955 Plymouth Savoy in the lot. I looked at that sucker and it looked so solid and substantial. The bumpers were heavy chrome plated steel, and the grille bar was the same. You could see how the sheet metal was designed to look as though there were compound curves, but they were really simple folds with the slightest curl at the edges to imply roundedness, with chrome strips hiding the joints. What year and make of chevy cars or trucks can I buy so I can easily convert my 68 chevy p/u to disk brakes? My '68 Chevy C10 shortbed has 6 lug by 5" bolt pattern. I want to convert to power disk brakes by adding a vacuum booster and disk system from the yard. I need to keep cost to minimum. Before I buy new chrome wheels, I should convert to the new disk brakes in case the wheels are 5 bolt pattern and not the 6 lug. What car or truck should I be looking for so as to get the newest condition disk brake parts, and yet be EASY for me to change over? If I bought the whole junk car, I also need, and might be able to use the vacuum booster, PS, and radio. My '68 has none of these things right now. I replaced the wood bed myself and the body is getting painted (Ford) fire red right now. It will look nice. Please help with my wheels question or suggestions. Thanks
