What to get a new motorcycle owner for Christmas? My dad is the only one left on my list! He's getting his first motorcycle from my mom, so I thought I'd get him some kind of motorcycle accessory ($50 or less) but then realized... I have no idea what kind of accessories motorcyclists need, other than helmets and jackets, both of which are way over $50. How much are motorcycle gloves, usually? Probably more than $50, I'm guessing. Is there ANYTHING motorcycle-related I can get him for that much? Thanks, Y!A

where can i find inexpensive motorcycle accessories? I own a 2007 suzuki sv650 (i know, not the nicest bike in the world, but it sure is cheap on insurance). id really like to give ith the streetfighter look, so i need a belly pan, undertail/fender eliminator, tire hugger, exhaust pipe and head lights. yeah, theres quite a bit. but a belly pan is $300, and an undertail is about $200. does anyone know of a site that i can find some of these, hopefully at a cheaper price? i mean, $500 for two pieces of plastic and some LEDs is pretty bad, especially when i paid $5500 for the bike brand new.

Can price be negotiated at a dealer for a motorcycle? I am buying a 2009 Kawasaki 900 LT. The msrp price is $8799.00. I'd also like to get another $1400 in accessories for the motorcycle. I was just wondering if the prices can be negotiated like you can do at a car dealership or the price is what it is? What would be a good way to go about it if so. Looking at Kelly Blue book it retails for $7390, Why the difference?
Why are people so foolish to purchase the worst motorcycle in the world? HD's are measurably the worst motorcycle in the world. HD's are not "Made in America", have Japanese parts all over them, poor performance and worse handling. If the only thing that you can point at as an attribute is that it's loud and obnoxious, while it shivers, shakes and falls apart...why would I (or anyone) actually want to own one? Truth is HD (As a corporate entity) does exactly one thing better than any other Motorcycle Maker..It markets accessories. In fact HD makes more $$ selling apparel and other misc. junk than they make on motorcycles. (Regardless that HD Bikes are over-priced, low performance, embarassing piece's of "Machinery"). So I guess this question is based on how did;Tattoos, Smoking, Drinking, Drugs and Stupid behavior ever get associated with Harley, and what HD Genius decided to exploit it? Last thing, I have owned more than 75 bikes of virtually every make (including HD) and my opinion is based on an excess of 500,000 miles & 30 years in the wind. (Ride on)
I am kooking for info on a chidrens motorcycle seat, it attaches to the rear of a motorcycle seat? seen it advertised a few years ago in a motorcycle accessories mag, and was looking for more info. it basically straps on to the existing seat then the kid sits on/in it. i think it was made in germany and is british kite marked for use over here. My kid can touch the footpegs easily as he is five. The whole idea of this device is that it attatches to the seat then the child SITS on the seat NOT strapped in. It is the safest way for a chid to be transported on a motorcycle. By the way, i am an advanced motorcycle instructor and a biker for 15 years.
Is BikeBandit.com a reputable website for motorcycle parts and accessories? Just bought a 78 honda CB750F and it needs a little work. I like bike bandit's site layout (they have breakout schematics) and the prices are good, but I don't want to get screwed buying somewhere online that I'm not sure about. Any thoughts or experiences? Thanks. Also, if there are any other websites that you like, feel free to let me know (especially any with free shipping!) Thanks for the answers so far...
Where can I find good looking YELLOW jackets and helmets to match my YELLOW motorcycle? ? I have an '08 yellow yamaha R6 motorcycle and am noticing that matching helmets and jackets are not abundantly available. Where can I find a good selection of yellow helmets and jackets? bikebandit, motorcycle-superstore, yamaha, and joerocket .com all are very limited in yellow. It is a hard color to find matching accessories for. Why? I wonder. Any help on where to get good yellow items would be appreciated.
Max out my motorcycle maximum allowable weight? I just bought a 2008 Kawasaki Versys. The max recommended load in addition to vehicle weight is 397 lbs (180 kg), including rider, passenger, baggage and accessories. I weigh around 300lbs and plan on installing a top box to carry not much more than a backpack and books for school plus laptop. I also plan on carrying a passenger, and would like to get side cases in the future as well. Am I putting too much of a burden on my bike? I guess I shouldve checked on this before hand. Does this mean that I can only carry 97 lbs more weight on my motorcycle? Or is it safe but not ideal to carry what I desire? If I can only carry 97 more pounds, the passenger is a no go. I should just lose 100 lbs and and not worry about it!
What to get my husband for our anniversary? My one year marriage anniversary is this weekend and I still can't figure out what to get my husband. We have been together 7 years but only married 1. In the past I have bought him clothing, motorcycle accessories, watch and even picture frames and a handwritten letter. Any suggestions?

Motorcycle Batteries and how they affect powering accessories? Hi I have a bike that I am having a little problem with it powering my heated gear, the bike is rated at 432 watts at 7000 rpm and is a 3 phase 32 amp charging system, but the bike has a 10500 rpm redline and 7000 rpms at cruising is not good and around 4000 rpms feels good for cruising and on the hyway at 70 mph it is running at 4300 rpm so I do not know how many watts are being gennarated at that rpm, is there like a formaler to calcalate watts at that rpm, I have a program that you can put all the power the bike uses and with my heated jacket and gloves I have 35 watts left over. The battery is small and is rated for 200 cca and 12 amp hours, I can get a battery that has more power but do not know the benafites of the battery that puts out 250 cca and 18 amp hours, and if that would make the voltage regulator work more to keep it charged or hurt it, and only know that more amp hours would heat my gear better, so any info would help me allot. thanks Mike
Are the colorful LED lights illegal on a motorcycle? We recently bought the "seven colored lizard light starter kit" here in Arkansas. I was wondering if it was illegal to have them on while riding a motorcycle? I looked up DMV.org and tried searching but couldnt find any laws on the accessory lights. Also, it would be great if anyone had website links following their answers.
Why is it Harley makes more money selling foreign fashion accessories than bikes? Harley Davidson makes more money selling clothing, keychains and "officially licensed merchandise" than they do from selling bikes. Further, 99% of this merchandise is made in china, malaysia, and mexico. Even their bikes contain foreign parts from places like italy and china and are far less reliable or technologically advanced as other bikes. How am I, as a proud American, supposed to get excited about an "American" product, when it is far more inferior, way pricier, and less reliable than most other motorcycles out there and the company that builds it makes most of its money selling foreign fashion garbage? Doesn't spending my hard earned money on something like this just make me stupid?
motorcycle catalogs? where can i get actual catalogs, sent to my house, with motorcycle parts, and accessories? I want to get on these lists. Anybody ???
Where is a good motorcycle shop in orange county? I need a place to get parts and accessories. HELP!! I live in Huntington Beach and have a '89 Honda Shadow VLX600. I need a fuel pump and a fuel pump relay. I also want to pick up some exhaust wrap and maybe a new seat. I've been lookin around a lot and cant find any good shops.
If you had say...$7,000...... you rather get a top of the line 500cc scooter or a bare bones motorcycle? consider that the $7,000 includes helmet, taxes & other accessories. I'm debating between the Aprilia Scarabeo, Suzuki Burgman (for scooters) & maybe the Suzuki sv 650, V-strom or Honda equivalent. (Motorcycles) The scooters are ideal in that they average over 40mpg even the 650cc Burgman, they offer more storage space, larger gas tanks, and more features for the price, but for the same amount you can get a good motorcycle. I've heard lot's of positive remarks and reviews over these scooters, and a lot of scooter satisfaction among motorcycle enthusiasts in the last several months, I'm leaning in that direction, but not quite sure what go with. I'm also not sure if motorcycles are more expensive to insure than scooters, they're both high theft. Particularly anyone that's seriously looked into these scooters and knows what they're capable of and has done this research...What would you do? Also, this purchase is more for practicality. I'm not looking to show off, I just want the most for my money. I'll need it for local & highway use, but not for pushing the limit or taking turns at a 45 degree angle. I'm going this route because I prefer a new vehicle to used and my new car choices are out of my immediate price range. Great answers thus far, but I don't think anyone's done the research I've done...the scooters I mention can hit 100mph+ and I'll be doing a 50/50 split between hwy and local driving. I think peoples minds might change if they saw the scooters I'm referencing...look them up! Then compare. (They are more motorcycle than scooter.)
I have a question about interesting accessories on the outside of houses in my neighbourhood...? I live in a city in Atlantic Canada, and our neighbourhood was built during the mid to late 1950s. It is made up of primarily bungalows. Lately I've noticed that a lot of the houses in our neighbourhood have a small orange light accompanied by what appears to be a megaphone in the front of the house. They are usually placed under the lip of the roof, somewhere near either the front door or garage. The orange light is similar to the kind of light you might see on a boat or motorcycle, a small orange circular piece of plastic, not a normal outdoor house light. I'm wondering what these are. Romantically I like to think that they have something to do with the Cold War. Could they have anything to do with air raids or bomb shelters? This kind of thing is very interesting to me, so I'd love to hear your answers.
Where can I find a radiator cover for a Suzuki Intruder 800? I have seen some on ebay and a few on some other sites. What's with the big price difference? On Ebay you can find a few for under $50, on any motorcycle accessory site they are 150-300. Anyone recommend a site where I can get one for a reasonable price?
What kind of motorcycle do I have? I am, admittedly, a novice motorcyclist. Based on recommendations from friends I went out and bought a new bike recently. To say I have had problems would be an understatement. I have been told, again by friends, that this is normal. Yesterday I took the bike back to the dealer to again try and have a problem repaired and had an interesting conversation with the service department. When I asked about what was causing the problem, he suggested that I needed more accessories for the bike and proceeded to try and sell me some leather bags. When I asked him how that was going to help me with my problem he said this: "Son, don't you know what kind of bike you own, these so called problems you are experiencing are just part of riding, relax, buy your self something new for the bike and don't let anyone convince you there is any thing wrong with the bike. So I ask you all out there in Cyberspace: "What kind of a bike do I own"? Thanks for the initial responses. I obviously know the manufacturer of the bike, some have guessed it correctly. The question is; "What kind of bike do I own"? The service guy's comments are what prompted the question when he implied (Stated) I was suppose to just accept the situation and buy something "Shiny". OK OK I give, Its a Harley Sportster, my problem is that parts just fall of of it and vibrates so hard my hands hurt when I park it. I took a riding course prior to buying it and rode an older Honda (Much Older). That bike was so incredibly smooth (At least in comparison) that I was really looking forward to just going out and riding around the country side. But now I just want to park it and proably sell it. What is acceptable here? The dealership and my friends have been no help as they just expect me to accept the situation. Liked all the answers but I'll tell you; I would rather ride it than have to work on it. I just sold it and bought a Yamaha V-Max. WOW, what a difference. Perfectly smooth and no parts falling off. My friends are unhappy but if I have to locktite parts back on to keep them from falling off? Well, I seriously doubt I'll ever own another Harley! Yamaha Dealership was also much more focused on what I needed to ride safely instead of "Shiny" items. Again thanmks for all the input.
I want to get a pink and black street sport motorcycle. Where do I start? 1. Can I design my own bike somewhere? Through what manufacturer? 2. I want to be able to get matching accessories too. 3. I'm pretty short (4'11''). I need one I can fit. (no, I don't want to get a toy bike) Any help/suggestions will be greatly appreciated. thanks I am a female and I don't think it's gay at all.
Is your motorcycle an "Investment" like my Harley is? One of the reasons I bought a Harley (other than the fact that I look really cool on it) is because of its resale value. Everyone has always told me that its an investment and that I'd be able to get my money back on it if I sold it. I've been checking all the bikes for sale lately, and it turns out that the market price for my same bike is about $6,000 less than what I paid for it a year ago. Not only that, but I added loud pipes, juiced up the motor and added a few other accessories to the tune of another $5,000. So, if I sold it today, I'd get $11,000 less than what I paid. Had I bought a Japanese bike for, say, $8,000 a year ago, I could probably sell it for $5,000 today. Anyone else have a good "investment" story?
The modern motorcycle - transport, expensive hobby or fashion accessory? Such is the way of the world now that pretty much all manufacturers of bikes release new models or updates on a near yearly basis. One only has to pick up a magazine to find that the latest Suzhonkamaha1800 is this weeks bike of the year and last weeks one was crud by comparison. I am not picking on just the Japanese here, it was just easier to make up a name with them but the European, American and other manufacturers do the same - so no one can take a holier than thou high ground on this one :-) So what do you think has the motorcycle become? Transport, expensive hobby, fashion accessory or something else and on what do you base you opinions? Lets hear what it is for you and also what you think of the broader picture accross the market and globe. I bet there will be some polarised answers to this but lets not get nasty here at the end of the day a bike is a bike is a bike. I'll add my thoughts later. Cheers Shug Mikey - you are entitled to your opinion though quite frankly I think you are talking crap. Not sure why you bothered answering the question though, do you think anyone here gives a toss if you like bikes or not? GW - you were doing so well until you got to point 10 in my opinion. A 50cc motorcycle is no less of a bike than a 60cc one. There are a good number of people in various parts of the world who are only allowed to start their biking career on a 50cc until they get to be 17 or for whatever reason. Even that aside I have a couple of 50cc bikes amongst the many that I own and they are every bit as good fun as any of the others in their own way. So I fundamentally disagree my friend - real bikers don't discrimiante against ANY other motorcycle.
