What's the difference between polishing compound, chrome/metal polish, and wax? TurleWax Polishing Compound? I have a motorcycle with chrome parts, painted metal parts, painted plastic parts, and exposed engine parts. I was going to get this "TurtleWax Polishing Compound" because it said it makes stuff shiny and erases scratches, and that it works on paint *and* chrome. Should I use this for everything? Do I have to put wax on after? What if I skip the polishing compound and just wax? Also, shoudl I get something special for the chrome, like metal polish? how do i know what to get? What is the difference between all these, what exactly do they FOR.. the title's aren't very descriptive. Ooh, and my air filter cover is a different kind of metal, possibly plastic, but it has these wormy grooves in it.. weird--what causes that and should I do something special for that? pics of my bike at http://santabarbara.craigslist.org/mcy/422969711.html what is the difference, as i asked? answer that and you get points.

Suzuki GN or GX 125 motorcycle parts? I live in the Cook Islands, and have had no luck in finding mail order parts for either of these bikes (used or new). I need a Speedometer, Tachometer, Headlamp/assembly and front fender (Chrome or Blue coloured). I know these bikes weren't sold all over the world, so if anyone can help me...
Are any motorcycle parts universal? I am having a hard time finding some parts for my 1981 Yamaha Virgo XV750. Heres a list of what I am looking for: 1. Foot pegs(not highway pegs) 2. Side mirrors 3. Grips 4. Brake/clutch levers(chrome) 5. Engine cover with Yamaha symbol, not the words 6. Yamaha symbol decal Not important stuff, but I was just wondering if the sizes for any of these items are universal or do they have to be made for the Yamaha Virago(obviously the Yamaha stuff does). Also, if you know any good places to buy bike parts please let me know
I am looking for an inexpensive motorcycle tire. Performance parts.? 200 70 15 is the size I have been recommended. It is for a 2002 V Star 1100 and I am not sure if there are safety issues as the stock tire was only 170. I have spoken with users of the same bike with the 200 mounted and they claim no problems. Also, any chrome or performance parts for the same bike. Word of advice. I buy brand name, top quality, unused parts and items all the time. A wise man once said, retail is for suckers. I am not looking for low quality, I am looking for high VALUE. I appreciate the concern for safety however.
Can anyone suggest a method of removing rust from chrome? I am rebuilding my motorcycle and the mufflers as well as some other small parts have some rust on them. I priced re-chroming and it will cost more than a new set of mufflers. Any suggestions on a decent method that will get rid of the rust without scratching up the chrome?
removing rusted chrome? I would like to remove rusted chrome and clean parts on motorcycle and paint them a regular color is that easily do-able
Look of chrome plating on the cheap? I'm going to have some motorcycle parts custom made (sissy bar / luggage rack brackets)... The rest of the rack is chrome plated... Is there any way to get the look of chrome on these new brackets without actually getting them plated, and inexpensively? Actual chrome plating is wicked expensive!!!

How much should I ask for this motorcycle? I have a '06 Suzuki Hayabusa 1300R silver and blue. It has many chrome aftermarket parts, gear shift indicator, 13K miles, and really looks attractive. I am contemplating selling it though I kinda don't want to but lower back surgery may force me to. Never dropped but a few scratches from rocks hitting it while riding. She is an awesome bike. I have 3 jackets, one helmet and its been serviced when it was time. So whats a good price to ask for it IF i decide to sell her?.. though I'd probably sob like a baby..lol

Harley Davidson Sportster Grips!? I just got grips from my harley off the net yesterday. They have not made it to my house yet, but by looking at the picture i don't see a place for the throttle cables anywhere on either one of the grips. Here is a link to the picture, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Harley-Davidson-Sportster-Dyna-Softail-CHROME-GRIPS-/390323525737?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5ae1185869. Sorry if link does not work. Is it possible that they are just slip on. If so, do i just cut the rubber off the throttle side?? Im confused. I have never put grips on myself just been reading and watching videos, but i can not find anything that helps me with my question.
How do I decrease the intensity of my HID motorcycle headlight? I bought a motorcycle with a very nice, and expensive, HID headlight on it. I love the look of the light, and want to keep it on, but it is far too bright for use at dusk or night. It is only a single ballast, with no moving parts to change from hi/low. It is the only light on the bike other than turn signals. I currently don't ride at night for fear of being a nuisance to other drivers. How can I decrease the intensity of the beam? Are there any lenses/materials that I can place in front of the light to distort the light? I don't think varying the voltage is an option with this type of light. My other option which is a little less considerate but might be more feasible, is to add additional lighting either halogen or super-bright LED. This way I will have something to flash as a 'hi-beam' when drivers think I am driving with my brights on. The bike is customed out and fairly streamlined with a black/chrome theme. I would like to stick with a chrome housing, and as low profile as possible, but yet have an intense enough light that it will be seen as a 'bright' when compared to the HID headlight. Any suggestions?
How do you clean 40 years of oil, dirt, grime, gas, mud etc off of a motorcycle engine? Basically that says it all. How do you clean 40 years of oil, dirt, grime, gas, mud etc off of a motorcycle engine. This bike has been sitting in a barn pretty much since it was new. In that time, it's accumulated a lot of dirt. My goal is to make a show quality cafe racer bike out of it over the winter, but one thing i've had trouble with in the past is getting all of the crud off of the motor, the rust off of the chrome, etc etc. any thoughts besides the obvious? what products are good for getting caked on old grease off? something that wont eat through irreplaceable rubber and plastic parts -------------------------------- brillo pads leave scratches... fine steel wool is better for chrome. but, there are products that help get rust off ... CLR doesn't work with a crap oddly enough. there are products that you can spray on motors to cut through the grease, i just don't know which ones work and which dont. they are expensive and i would hate to buy a bottle purely on speculation. i'd rather have reviews from Y! answer users. -- nog.. i made the mistake on my last bike of not cleaning the tank, and even though i rebuilt the carbs, ended up having to clean them out 4 or 5 times.. not fun... won't be making that mistake again for sure. -- oz.. thx...
How to deal with rust spots and/or corrosion? I'm restoring a motorcycle, and there is rust on both the chrome parts and the painted parts. I've found that when I remove the rust with steel wool, nearly all of it goes away, but there are still tiny little pockets of rust (ie pitting), that are slightly worse on the painted bits of the bike but appear on both chromed and painted parts. My question is, is there any alternative to repainting or refinishing these items? With careful steel-wool brushing I can get them to look decent enough, but I don't want to rebuild the bike and then have it rust up all over again. I need a less invasive way of preventing any further rust from forming in these spots on both painted and chromed parts. Also, the engine/trans is made largely of aluminum which has oxidized. It looks great when I clean it off, but do I need to worry about it oxidizing again with normal use? And if so, what is a good protectant product I can use to prevent this? Also, one more question (answer both and you'll get a quick 10 points)- I have to repaint the cylinder, since it is made of steel with a cast iron lining and the fins had to be cleaned to bare metal. What is a good spray-type paint for this application, and good method of protecting the cylinder from the paint? Thanks
is the hayabusa a good motorcycle? my whole extended family has bikes and were always trying to have a better bike than each other. since im tighter on cash now and hayabusa sounds like a really great choice anyways. but i need other opinions do you think this bike handles well . would it be good for mountain rides. is the 2007 model a good one or should i pay the extra for the 2008 or 2009. where is the best place to get after market parts for this bike as well. for example chrome wheels and handles spar painted windshield and so forth. thx
i need to tighten the clutch cable on my motorcycle? ok i have 1997 HD Sportster. I had some apes put on a few months back and use it to go to work and make little runs. nothing big. Since i put the new apes on they came with new cables clutch lever and brake lever and all the controls. everything is actual harley davidson parts just changes the controls from black to chrome. Well everything went on pretty easy but i have not been able to adjust the clutch lever properly. Half way down the clutch cable there are couple of nuts that i have been adjusting and I can get all of the play out of the clutch lever but it only last for a few miles and then i get slack back in the lever. The slack will get so bad that at times it is impossible to shift. like a said i adjust the nuts again and the slack is out but it doesn't last long. i would like to know a permanent way to fix this or maybe the correct way cause i am not sure if i am doing it right. please help thanks
Painting a motorcycle? Actually not painting, really just primmering. I dont have an air system to use a gun, so Im just going to stick with the spray cans, Im painting the fenders, tank and side covers, so I dont really need to worry about sputter coming from the cans when they get real low, cause I'll just use a new can on each object. What Im wondering is first, how do I get the clear coat and paint off the parts? The fenders and side covers are plastic, the gas tank is the only thing that is metal. I'll be using self etching primer, black, and I'll be painting the parts in my garage on the next good cool day around here. Im wondering how to get the paint off or just scuff it up and Im wondering if I need to wet sand it afterwards. Also, is there a way to paint over chrome without having the chrome professionally removed?
Kawasaki Ninja 250r Muffler scratched and scuffed! repair? I have an 08 250r.. that i dropped in my driveway (it's gravel and i was attempting a tight u turn with my feet off the pegs.) now, the plastics are actually in pretty good shape, but the muffler has a few scuffs.. i say scuffs because while they are scratches, the extent of the scratch doesn't reach down to the metal part of the muffler, just the chrome covering... now, if i get this... it will help a lot.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Kawasaki-Ninja-250-R-250R-EX250-New-OEM-MUFFLER-COVER-/190425455997?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c563ddd7d but then all that is still scratched up is the muffler itself. I was wondering if there is a good chrome polish that i can use to fix the scratches? keep in mind that the un scratched parts look brand new and super shiny, so it makes the slightest scratches super noticeable... what do people use to take out the scratches? or do i just leave it as a memory of my mistakes? idk, i'm just super conscientious of those huge scuffs on my bike... Thanks for any suggestions!
Advice for chronic diarrhea most likely related to stress? As most of you know, I own a fear aggressive 2.5 year old German Shepherd male, Luther. With lots of training his aggression is almost gone, but he is still very unsure and timid in new situations. He is getting a lot better. He can go out just fine. We go to PetSmart, he has even come to school with me to participate in vaccination labs and what not and he has done just fine. He is to the point where he pays no attention to strangers, he has learned that he MUST ignore them and as long as he behaves at my side all is well for him. He even goes up to many of them for a curious sniff, a quick pet, and even a lick to the hand every now and then. Even his issue with other dogs is largely clearing up. He no longer raises his hackles or barks when he sees other dogs, although he wants them no where near him and will try to go after another dog if it approaches him. Anyway... that's not the point! lol The point is, he has always gotten sick when extremely stressed. For example, I went out of town for 2 weeks last fall, and the 2000$ leather cough was chewed to hell, the carpets were covered in diarrhea, and every book on the lower shelves of my book shelf were shredded. I went to san diego for 5 days in march, and again extreme diarrhea, lethargy, refusal to eat, etc... So, I really just plan my life around him haha! Or kennel him when I have to go on vacation without him. Anyway... to the REAL point here, enough rambling... we have noticed a pattern. About every two weeks, he will have a bout of diarrhea where he can't control it and usually ends up going in the house. Usually my room. Lovely. Not his fault, he is very good at letting us know when he has to go, and we know he tries to hold it. It's usually when we aren't at home that this happens. There are times when we get home, only being gone for an hour or so, and he'll bolt outside and immediately have diarrhea. It will last a day or two, and then clear up. My father is convinced he's sick. I'm convinced it's stress related. That giardia fear I had about a month ago? Well, the fecal ended up being clean. Along with the blood work I ran on him about 6 weeks ago for fun in hemo lab. In the winter we never had this problem. But now that I think about it, in the winter my biker father was largely holed up in the house, bitter and angry. In the summer he lives in his garage, rebuilding motorcycles and having fellow riders come over and compare work and paint jobs and new chrome parts and blah blah blah.... Every weekend just about it seems like SOMEONE stops by. And this is when Luther goes crazy barking in the window, and this is when I lock him up in the back room to avoid a run in if someone decides to come in to use the restroom. See where the stress part might come in? I do. It seems to me like when this random diarrhea comes in, it's always on either a weekend day or monday. I think people coming to the house and him being locked up stress him out, because he's just that kind of dog that gets stressed easily (obviously... if you know anything about Luther's history... haha). Any advice? I'm NOT going to stop locking him up, and I'm NOT going to stop "allowing" my father to have friends over (like that could ever happen). lol. It's no one else's fault that I have a crazy, neurotic dog that likes to eat people's faces when they come over to the house. I'm off to the store after school today to purchase canned pumpkin, and I hope just permanently adding that to his daily diet will help. I know in the past the grey hounds at school have always had fecal issues, and they've always been supplemented and managed with canned pumpkin. Any other advice? Or maybe supplements that may help with stress? Ginseng is the only natural one that I know of, but obviously it can NOT be used long term and this is a chronic issue with him, not a once in a while going to the vet visit or anything like that. Thank you! EDIT: Lorraine, the dogs are always locked in my bedroom (the back room) when we leave the house. Not that they can't be trusted in the rest of the house (in fact, if it's a really warm day we leave them out of the room so they have the option of retreating to the basement or under the swamp cooler), but Luther is still younger, so if any accidents or "naughtiness" DOES occur it is at least confined to one space. My bedroom, much like a crate, has become THEIR space. That is where they are most relaxed. Their beds are in there, their toys are in there. and often times even when we are home they chill in there. So that would be the most familiar and comforting space to lock on or both of them up when someone comes over. When I went out of town for two week, my father didn't go with me, so he was home with the dogs. Luther still became sick. Thank you, Lorraine. Yes, it has been a long process with this dog. This was an animal that we thought we would have to euthanize at 16 weeks of age because of such extreme aggression! It took showing him that as long as he followed and obeyed me, he had no need for the aggressive protection because I was law, I was protection, I was safe. But with that safety zone being ME, it now becomes a long process of showing him that he is safe on his own. We had to build up that reliance on me to curb the aggression, now we have to wean off that same reliance lol
Should I buy a Harley-Davidson? I admit it, for years I was a Harley-basher. They've always been the most beautiful bikes in the world, yes, but I was always more interested in utility. A lot of people buy them for the image---and I HATE the image. I like to ride motorcycles, I don't give a damn what other people think of me riding the thing. I never thought I would consider buying an H-D, but due to my height, taste and the type of riding I do, my options are limited and Harley is about the last real bike out there. I am hugely irritated with the plastic faux chrome parts on Japanese bikes in recent years. I've heard that insurance is high on H-Ds, that repairs are expensive (and frequent), and I don't feel good about the belt drive thing. If I went Harley, I'd have to go with the 1200N Sportster. Fill me in, people. By "real" bike I mean that the parts actually seem to serve some function, unlike the faux air cleaner covers and plastic "chrome" on many bikes. thomy8s: I never said the image was negative, I simply said I didn't like it. And you didn't change my mind much witrh your outburst. tamarack58: Yeah, I realize I don't have to wear the accepted uniform of the supposedly free-from-conformity crowd. The "image" I don't care for is the low-rent snobbery of the H-D crowd, (see thomy8s comment), the Made In America attitude, and the pretentiousness. And Ed: I have indeed done the research, and am obviously still doing it, since I asked the question. The high-priced custom bikes strike me as something people want to own, rather than ride. Thanks all for the responses.
photography lighting question? Im shooting custom motorcycles, what is the best way to keep the softbox and other lighting reflections from showing up bikes gas tank in the photos? Also In some parts of the chrome you can see me and the camera in the reflection also, is there a way to avoid this besides photoshopping it out?
funny new jokes tell me if you get and what do it mean lol? A young guy bought himself a shiny new motorcycle covered with nickels and bright chrome. He asked the salesman, what can I do to protect it from rust? the salesman replied when it starts to rain, immediately put petroleum jelly on all the shiny parts. Soon after, his girlfriend invited him for a big family gathering at her parents house. On the day of the event, he parked his new motorcycle outside and went in to see that there were over 80 guests at the table. The girls father explained to him that in our house, there is a custom; the one who says the first word after the food has to wash all the dishes. The moment everyone finished eating, there was complete silence. For two hours no one said a word. Finally, the boy had enough; he moved some dishes aside, laid his girlfriend on the table and banged her in front of everyone. No one said a word. Another half hour passes, the boy takes the girls mother and does the same thing to her. Again, no one dares to speak. Suddenly it begins to rain so the boy pulls out the petroleum jelly out of his pocket. Seeing that, the girls father said: you won, Ill do the dishes. An absolutely stunning 23 year old girl desparately wanted to be rich.....but she certainly didn't want to have to work. She didn't like the thought of marrying a rich guy, because it would only put a damper on all her party action. After a lot of thought, she decided her best bet was to marry some really old rich guy so that her departure from the party scene would be brief. After a good deal of searching, she set her sights on a west Texas oilman/rancher who was pushing 90 years of age. After wooing the man with all she had, they were married. He flew her to Manhattan for the honeymoon, taking her to the fanciest suite in the best hotel in town. After getting to their rooms, the old man wandered into the bathroom. The girl draped herself in the sexiest teddy she had and stretched out on the bed thinking how after only one night, she was bound to be a very rich widow. Presently the old man walked out of the bathroom sporting the most enormous erection the girl had ever seen, and it was sheathed in a condom. The old man had wads of cotton stuffed in both ears and a clothespin on his nose. Jumping off the bed, the girl asked "Why the hell do you look like that?"..... The old man chuckled and said "Darlin', there are two things in this world that I just can't stand..... the sound of a woman screaming and the smell of burning rubber". A secretary for a foreign embassy was entertaining a wealthy foreign ambassador during lunch at a very expensive restaurant in uptown New York. The ambassador was so enthralled by the beauty and presence of this secretary that he asked her to marry him. The secretary was startled, but remembered that her boss told her never to insult foreign dignitaries, so she decided to let him down easy. "I'll only marry you under three conditions." "Anything, anything," said the ambassador. "First, you must buy me a 14-karat gold wedding band with a 72 carat diamond, along with a 28 inch studded matching necklace for our engagement." Without hesitation, the ambassador picked up his cellular phone, called his personal accountant, told him the instructions, and said, "Yes, yes, I buy, I buy!" The secretary thought that her first request was too easy, so she thought of a more difficult situation. "Second, I want you to build me a 58-acre mansion in the richest part of the Poconos along with a 40 acre summer home in the sweetest vineyards of France." The ambassador picked up his phone, called his personal broker in New York, then called another broker in France, and after his quick conversation, he said, "Yes, yes, I build, I build!" The secretary was very startled, and knew she must think of a final request that would be impossible to live up to. "Finally," she said. "I'll only marry you if you have a 10 inch penis." A sad face befell the ambassador, and he cupped his face in his hands. After weeping in his native language for a few minutes, the ambassador slowly lifted his head and said, "Ok, ok, I cut, I cut!" A young guy drops off his girlfriend at her home after being out together on a date. When they reach the front door he leans up against the house with one hand and says to her, "How about a blowjob?" "What! Are you crazy!" "Don't worry, it will be quick," he ensures his girlfriend. "No! Someone might see us..." "It's just a small blowjob," he insists, "and I know you like it." "No! I said no!" "Baby... don't be like that." "Come on baby pleeeeaassseee" "I'm not going to give you a blow job" "Why Not...baby it will be quick I promise?" Suddenly, the girl's younger sister shows up at the door in her nightgown, with her hair a mess, and rubbing her eyes. She looks at them and smirks, "Dad says to tell your boyfriend

1994-?? Yamaha YZF-750...need frame or something compatible to make it legal to drive..please help!!? Hello, I have a old friend who left a 1994 yamaha yzf-750 in my yard now for about 5 years. I was thinking about making it right to drive and doing a project out of it. The bike is definilty rare because I cant find a frame so far. Heres the scoop: the bike is still in good shape, everything works for the most part but the guy is M.I.A. and doesnt want the bike, nor does he know where the title went. So, my goal si to find a compatible frame to that bike, and switch over the parts so it is legal to drive. Im from MA so I beleive we cant use salvaged titles to drive a motorcycle, so I need a frame with a clean title and I cant figure where to find one seeing as ebay didnt have one. Anyone have an helpful information for me?? I really want to drive this bike, and my alternate route would be buying a different frame similar, and just chrome dipping the yzf frame (so theres no vin after i fill it in, scrape it off) and saying its that bike, with that title. PLEASE HELP do it LEGAL! No the bike isnt stolen....i know the owner who had it before me and he was supposed to be storing it, its just to much a burden and he is in the army and doesnt care to deal with it, he like harleys, so he said if i could find a frame or figure something out I would be all set, but more about welding one....how do you go about that,,is it really hard to get ecact bolt holes made and can you title it after???
How would my bike look if I only used spray cans to paint it? I don't want to take my motorcycle [a yamaha V Star] to a paint shop (they charge from 200-300$), and I was thinking of just sanding the paint off, and using spray cans to paint it black. I know it may sound INCREDIBLY moronic (given the fact I know nothing about paint) but how bad of an idea is it? I mean, it's just three parts (tank and fenders) just so you know, I like the ratbike style when it comes to looks...little chrome as possible. Thank you for your time and input!
85 Yamaha Virago 750 Good First Bike? I was looking at getting a 85 Yamaha Virago 750. I was wondering if this is a good starter bike? Here are the details of the one I'm currently looking at. Virago 750 with 10,000 miles - $950 -Clear Title -All Original -Runs Good -New Tires with 600 miles on them -Needs Mirrors -All Lights Work -Mechanical Sound -Chrome in Good Shape -Paint in Good Shape -Historic Tags -One small dent on Tank -Sitting for 3-4 months in storage unit The reason the guy told me he was selling it was because he bought this for his wife to get her used to riding a motorcycle. He's been keeping in a storage unit, because he doesn't have space and wants to make a quick sale. He bought another bike, and wants to maintain one. Do people think this bike sounds like a good deal The bike seems like a great deal! (I haven't physically seen it yet!) Is this bike is too old for a beginner? Should I be looking for something newer? Could I find mirrors to fit this easily? Would it be hard to find parts for this? Would this handle well and be comfortable for a newer rider?
Hit curb at about 30 mph? I didn't slow down for a turn. Dumb on my part. It's fun taking corners sharp. I don't do it anymore after this. But I was at a light and i took a left turn real quick and I saw a motorcycle come up on the same direction I was turning, so i swerved a bit to not hit them. And i hit a draining ditch curb. It was loud. I almost lost control. I'm a young driver. And So then I pulled over off the road. and the right passenger side rim was scratched. And my tires were okay. I was frickin scared. Now theres some scratches on it. Only on a certain part. Will it rust. They are custom. I don't know if they are chrome or aluminum. And I don't have enough money to take it to the shop yet. This is my car and I don't want my parents to know. Do I need to get anything checked out also? My signal light came off too and I shoved it back in. I drove it today. It's not moving on its on. Driving like it always has. Just wanna be sure
Why does it seem so few Harley owners...? care to give the Japanese their proper due when it comes to motorcycles? I ride a 08 1200cc Sportster HD Roadster. (883s are for sissies.) I've ridden numerous HD in my 30 years of riding experience and a good few Japanese bikes. I ride my Sporty because of it's light weight (in comparison to other Harleys, I mean.) exhaust note, and general overall feel of the bike. I didn't buy this damn thing so that I now have thousands of new 'friends' at the local watering hole. (More and more of them are weekend warrior dentists, doctors and wussy boy software designers with brand shiny new HD logo leathers that make them look like a walking, talking billboard.) I didn't buy this thing because it has 'a spirit' or 'a soul' (It doesn't. It's a ****ing MACHINE) that just so happens to have been around for 105+ years. Bread has been around longer. That doesn't mean that I think it has 'a soul' That said I can recognize what the Japanese have done for motorcycles in general. Why can't you, Mr. Hardcore Harley? Those Japanese practically own MotoGP and AMA with all of the big 4 bikes in there. They do great in dragging, too. So what's all this 'imitation' garbage? Remember in the 70s and 80s when Harley was PURE TRASH? I do. My old Fat Boy broke down TWO WEEKS after I bought it! Who do you think took advantage of that at put out similar looking motorcycles that, you know, actually ran for more than 5,000 miles without guzzling or leaking oil? The Japanese. While the government was bailing Harley out and screwing over the Japanese with taxes for the thank you. While we're at it. Why do I never hear the loud mouths at the watering holes calling a Boss Hoss an 'imitation' or Indian or Victory bikes 'imitations'? But ALL of the Japanese cruisers are...even the ones that look nothing like a Harley. Well, I got new for you pinheads. Us Americans have 'imitated' plenty of things in the span of our years on this continent. Get off your damn high horse! Harley is a great bike these days. Twice as reliable as they've ever been! Japanese bikes are pretty damn rock solid themselves, and those crotch rockets are amazing machines. You can't even tell me you wouldn't have fun busting 200mph in Bonneville Flats on an unlocked Busa or ZX-14, Mr. Hardcore Harley. I had fun with it! There's more to riding than 60mph, loud pipes and stopping at a new pub every 5-10 miles and stand around your chromed out bikes that you have PERFORMANCE parts on but then tell the sport bike riders that you don't ride for speed. (Hello double standard!) My 883s are for sissies comment is entirely false, and meant as a jab towards someone who has the same first name (Tony) as me. I just happen to own a 1200cc. I figured that was pretty **ckin' obvious give my BLATANT copy of his user name...but I guess some of you just can't wrap your heads around that.
Squirril of DEATH, long as hell, but funny? An original true story, written by a Battalion Fire Chief in a Mississippi town. EVIL MUTANT ATTACK SQUIRREL OF DEATH I never dreamed that slowly cruising on my motorcycle through a residential neighborhood could be so incredibly dangerous! Little did I suspect. I was on Brice Street - a very nice neighborhood with perfect lawns and slow traffic. As I passed an oncoming car, a brown furry missile shot out from under it and tumbled to a stop immediately in front of me. It was a squirrel, and must have been trying to run across the road when it encountered the car. I really was not going very fast, but there was no time to brake or avoid it -- it was that close. I hate to run over animals, and I really hate it on a motorcycle, but a squirrel should pose no danger to me. I barely had time to brace for the impact. Animal lovers, never fear. Squirrels, I discovered, can take care of themselves! Inches before impact, the squirrel flipped to his feet. He was standing on his hind legs and facing my oncoming Valkyrie with steadfast resolve in his beady little eyes. His mouth opened, and at the last possible second, he screamed and leapt! I am pretty sure the scream was squirrel for, "Banzai!" or maybe, "Die you gravy-sucking, heathen scum!" The leap was nothing short of spectacular... He shot straight up, flew over my windshield, and impacted me squarely in the chest. Instantly, he set upon me. If I did not know better, I would have sworn he brought 20 of his little buddies along for the attack. Snarling, hissing, and tearing at my clothes, he was a frenzy of activity. As I was dressed only in a light T-shirt, summer riding gloves, and jeans this was a bit of a cause for concern. This furry little tornado was doing some damage! Picture a large man on a huge black and chrome cruiser, dressed in jeans, a T-shirt, and leather gloves, puttering at maybe 25 mph down a quiet residential street, and in the fight of his life with a squirrel. And losing... I grabbed for him with my left hand. After a few misses, I finally managed to snag his tail. With all my strength, I flung the evil rodent off to the left of the bike, almost running into the right curb as I recoiled from the throw. That should have done it. The matter should have ended right there. It really should have. The squirrel could have sailed into one of the pristinely kept yards and gone on about his business, and I could have headed home. No one would have been the wiser. But this was no ordinary squirrel. This was not even an ordinary angry squirrel. This was an EVIL MUTANT ATTACK SQUIRREL OF DEATH! Somehow he caught my gloved finger with one of his little hands and, with the force of the throw, swung around and with a resounding thump and an amazing impact, he landed squarely on my BACK and resumed his rather antisocial and extremely distracting activities. He also managed to take my left glove with him! The situation was not improved. Not improved at all. His attacks were continuing, and now I could not reach him. I was startled, to say the least. The combination of the force of the throw, only having one hand (the throttle hand) on the handlebars, and my jerking back unfortunately put a healthy twist through my right hand and into the throttle. A healthy twist on the throttle of a Valkyrie can only have one result. TORQUE. This is what the Valkyrie is made for, and she is very, very good at it. The engine roared and the front wheel left the pavement. The squirrel screamed in anger. The Valkyrie screamed in ecstasy. I screamed in . well . I just plain screamed. Now picture a large man on a huge black and chrome cruiser, dressed in jeans, a slightly squirrel-torn t-shirt, wearing only one leather glove and roaring at maybe 50 mph and rapidly accelerating down a quiet residential street on one wheel, with a demonic squirrel of death on his back. The man and the squirrel are both screaming bloody murder. With the sudden acceleration I was forced to put my other hand back on the handlebars and try to get control of the bike. This was leaving the mutant squirrel to his own devices, but I really did not want to crash into somebody's tree, house, or parked car. Also, I had not yet figured out how to release the throttle... my brain was just simply overloaded. I did manage to mash the back brake, but it had little effect against the massive power of the big cruiser. About this time the squirrel decided that I was not paying sufficient attention to this very serious battle (maybe he was an evil mutant NAZI attack squirrel of death), and he came around my neck and got INSIDE my full-face helmet with me. As the faceplate closed part way, he began hissing in my face. I am quite sure my screaming changed intensity. It had little effect on the squirrel, however. The RPMs on the Dragon maxed out (since I was not bothering with shifting at the moment), so her front end started to drop. Now picture a large man on a huge black and chrome cruiser, dressed in jeans, a very raggedly torn T-shirt, wearing only one leather glove, roaring at probably 80 mph, still on one wheel, with a large puffy squirrel's tail sticking out of the mostly closed full-face helmet. By now, the screams are probably getting a little hoarse. Finally I got the upper hand ... I managed to grab his tail again, pulled him out of my helmet, and slung him to the left as hard as I could. This time it worked ... sort of. Spectacularly sort of ..so to speak. Picture a new scene. You are a cop. You and your partner have pulled off on a quiet residential street and parked with your windows down to do some paperwork. Suddenly a large man on a huge black and chrome cruiser, dressed in jeans, a torn T-shirt flapping in the breeze, and wearing only one leather glove, moving at probably 80 mph on one wheel, and screaming bloody murder roars by, and with all his strength throws a live squirrel grenade directly into your police car. I heard screams. They weren't mine... I managed to get the big motorcycle under control and dropped the front wheel to the ground. I then used maximum braking and skidded to a stop in a cloud of tire smoke at the stop sign of a busy cross street. I would have returned to 'fess up' (and to get my glove back). I really would have. Really... Except for two things. First, the cops did not seem interested or the slightest bit concerned about me at the moment. When I looked back, the doors on both sides of the patrol car were flung wide open. The cop from the passenger side was on his back, doing a crab walk into somebody's front yard, quickly moving away from the car. The cop who had been in the driver's seat was standing in the street, aiming a riot shotgun at his own police car. So, the cops were not interested in me. They often insist to "let the professionals handle it" anyway. That was one thing. The other? Well, I could clearly see shredded and flying pieces of foam and upholstery from the back seat. But I could also swear I saw the squirrel in the back window, shaking his little fist at me. That is one dangerous squirrel. And now he has a patrol car. A somewhat shredded patrol car .. but it was all his. I took a deep breath, turned on my turn signal, made a gentle right turn off of Brice Street, and sedately left the neighborhood. I decided it was best to just buy myself a new pair of gloves. And a whole lot of Band-Aids.
