How do I clean the chrome wheels to really make them shine? The Pontiac Grand Am GT has these nice chrome wheels, that are kind of loosing their shine. I have the spray that I use when the car is washed, it helps some. But I want them to look like new again. Can someone help ? What do I use to really polish them up to a bright like new shine. How can I clean my Chrome Wheels? I bought my car years back, and the inside of my chrome wheels are just about black from the dirt and brake dust from over the years. How do I clean old wheels? Chrome wheels with excessive brake dust buildup? Solution.? I have an old car with chrome wheels and heavy brake dust buildup. None of the over the counter automotive wheel cleaners can even tough it. I realized the best way is to put diluted Muriatic Acid in a plastic spray bottle. Spray on, and then hose off immediately. Flush the brake disc and pads well. This wont hurt your tires. The brake dust turns to mud and wipes off easily. May need second application. Don't let the muriatic acid drip onto your concrete drive way because it will eat it a way and leave four rough marks. Be very careful - do not breath fumes and if you get it on you, you will know it, rinse off immediately (buy at Lowes, HD, pool supply). It's a great rust remover. Rinse out spray bottle... Oh by the way, your brakes will need to reset with the disc, so ride the brakes when you first drive the car or you could rear-end somebody. I almost went through a stop sign the first time I did this. Just be real careful with the muriatic acid, it's really dangerous. Setup the hose and spray down the wheels with water before you apply the muriatic acid, and spray off immediately.

How to get ingrained dirt off of Crome wheels? Over the past few years i have left my car out in the snow, while i was away at college. Wasn't really the best idea, i know! Hi. I just had some Zinik 18 inch chrome wheels put on my 1999.5 Nissan Pathfinder. Any info. is appreciated They are the Zinik Shogun model, I just had them put on. My question is, I live in St. Louis, MO. We don't get a lot of snow, maybe 3 snowfalls a year at most. Wheel shine? Hi, my truck has some alloy or chrome wheels that are covered with brake dust and grime, I cant get them to shine like they did when I bought my truck back in 2004. When I wash them, I use Armor All wheel cleaner, I follow the instructions, spray on the wheel, let it soak for a minute then hose it off, but still the brake dust remains. how do you keep your wheels shiny? I have crome wheels on my truck. When I use the cleaner they good for about 5 days, then they cloud over. Anyway to prevent that? And also the pit rust that gathers on the crome covered mirrors, cant get it all off, but its plastic, afraid if I scrub too hard, i'll scrub the chrome off.
02 durango slt+ paint job? well when i first got my durango over half a yr ago i would just wash it several times a week but now its winter and here in oregon we usually dont get snow but this winter we got a crap load of it and my mother and i went out and bought a ice scrapper and the next day i used it and stupidly i used the rubber edge on the scrapper on the body of the suv and a couple weeks later i noticed it left a bunch of scratches on the paint job there is a couple deeper nicks on the passenger door of the car and there are a couple dull marks ( which were already there ) on the door and the hood and ever sense i used the scrapper it left a BUNCH of light swirl marks. im only 13 and i didnt about a huge amount about paint jobs back a couple months ago like i do now but i wanna get the suv back to tip top condition like it was back then ( its didn't even say tht it was only for windows it just said ice scrapper and the thing was like ten bucks! ) it still looks incredibly nice when i do one of my 4 hour car wash's but u can see the the flaws up close alot. and hofully soon i will be able to get all the stuff i need to get it done right but wht do i need? i have a couple bottles of armor all wash and wax car wash ( is this about the best for around 6 bucks or is ICE of something else better), i have a hole bottle of ICE polish and wax ( liquid ), tutle wax premium grade rubbing compound ( the green n blck bottle ). i was going use the rubbing compound when it got a lil nice out but i heard tht it will leave more swirl marks so i figured i should by some scratch remover. BUT wht kind should i get meguiar's or turtle wax? and to top it off i should probably get a liquid clay thing. i hope this should be enough because we dont have much money but we wanna keep our car NICE! this would probably be a mini project i would do in the summer. wht towel things should i use for the wax, compound, clay, and swirl stuff. i have some shop towel, terry clothes, basic 1 time use things to dry the car tht i got at a car wash/ vacuum place, wax applicator. wax buffer ( i also had the ice interior cleaner but i cant remember if its the blue towell tht came with the wax or a white towel lol), i also just got some SHAMWOW'S to dry the car. wht other towel thing do i need to use for the compound and all tht fun stuff. i also have a little touch up paint bottle brush/pen tht i got at walmart thts almost the exact color and should i use tht at first or last? o ya the suv color is patriot blue pearlcoat with the luxury silver trim. some other stuff i have for my durango tell me if theres anything better thts not to expensive. armor all extreme tire shine gel ( i hate this stuff takes for ever! ) turtle wax wet n blck tire shine spray, black magic wheel cleaner, basic armor all tire shiner, chrome rim polish ( i didnt know wht type of rims i had lol ), sonic scrubber rim cleaner brush it works great for tht brake dust behind the rims ( got Additional heads to! ) armor all interior cleaning wipes, and armor all to go interior wipes. o ya is windex ok to use for the windows because i used it once and it worked great. o ya i also have two armor all BIG LARGE washing mitts. how many bottles of these things do u think i will need for the complete shine. will i have to use a machine to buff the stuff the only thing we could afford would be this 25 dollar one at walmart. o ya could u give me some tips for how much to use, how to use it and all tht stuff and if u know any helpful websites let me know plz srry if this is a lil confuzing is there anything else tht well help make the car look rlly good im mostly focused on the scratches and stuff right now. could u tell me wht order i should use these in like wash first, clay second stuff like tht THX A LOT
how to bring back shine to aluminum window frames? I bought a house that is older with aluminum windows, and the last owner did not seem to clean them for quite some time. The aluminum frames are a silvery milky white color and my neighbors that have the same windows look like chrome. I have brushed these windows with scrub brushes and green scouring pads even aluminum wheel cleaner, now my frame is a clean milky grey color, it just isnt polished like my neighbor has it, his is like chrome. I have tried silver polishes and this doesn't remove the grey film either - i need something stronger. Can anyone help??? my windows are bare aluminum - not painted or coated with anything.
How can i fix a pitted chrome wheel!? I have 20 inch chrome wheels and like two of them are pitted but all have like mild, not deep scratches from some idiot who, before I went to through a car wash, he like cleaned them with a green sponge and i didn't realize what he was doing until it was too late. Are my mag wheels clear coated? Long story short I have a Honda accord euro r with stock mag wheels. Gun Metal Finish. They are dirty and real hard to clean. I'm looking at a cleaner that says "Do NOT use on clear coated, anodized, chrome, painted, plastic or any other kind of coated surfaces. For use on alloy, aluminium and magnesium only." How can I remove years of brake dust? I bought a 99 4runner with the 6spoke 16" chrome rims and the front set has about I'd say about 10 years of baked on brake dust. The previous owner obviously never cleaned or rotated the wheels, as the rear tires were totally spent and the fronts still have about half their tread! The worst part of the rim is the inside, the part that rotates around the rotor and catches the majority of the dust.. the surface has all these tiny grooves and the dust in settled in there and baked on. These are the products I've tried so far.. colonel brassi's metal cleaner, simple green, spray on rim cleaner, brillo pads (which made the most progress i think, but still far from clean), pb blaster, wd40 and blue magic. Is there a magic product out there? Or do I just need to scrub for days on end? I can post a picture if that would help. How much is my salvaged car worth?? I have a 1995 Mercedes-Benz E320 SE with 116K miles. I was hit in front had to replace the radiator, headlights, hood, and grill. I looks now looks great aside from some minor aligment issues with headlights and the hood. The interior is so clean you would no believe it's a 95 and I just purchased a set of 19" chrome wheels and brand new perelli tires. I'm thinking of selling it and would like to know what kind of price I can expect from it. Clean tittle, KBB is between 5-6k, but since it's salvage I don't know how much I should ask.

Let me try again about where to get wheels polished near St. James, Mo.? They are dinged up, have scratches and are down right dull. I want the dings and scratches cleaned up (don't even have to be perfect because this is not a show car) and then polished (buffed?) to a chrome like finish. This is not something you find in a can of polish and I know how to use that stuff. St. James is a small town and not near any big cities so I know I'll have to travel, but I think it will be worth it. We moved here only three years ago and are still learning the area. Any help would be appreciated.
How much should I ask for the car? (selling)? Im selling one of my Galants (2000 es) with 171k miles. I bought the car at 144k miles with the engine already ticking (sticky lifter) for $2300 (it needed a new water pump and timing belts changed at the time). The car had been driven from Ohio to California, and back. And it did great. I replaced the belts and pump at 155k, they had just put a brand new Torque Converter on when I bought it (has records), just installed new motor and tranny mounts, brakes, did a tune-up, tires have 15,000 miles (they are suppose to last 75k miles) with good tread. The car is super clean, inside and out, with no rust and runs smoother than my sister's '11 Focus. It has a new Pioneer head unit and new pioneer speakers all around, including tweeters in the door (chrome accent, looks nice) and subs in the trunk. But the downfalls are: -the engine ticks. I took it to several ASE certified mechs (including Mits. dealer service), and they all told me not to mess with it because it will only "open a can of worms". They also said since my engine still performs very good for high mileage, that it shouldn't cause any performance problems. To my knowledge, it started ticking around 120k miles. A very common problem with these engines. I just use a higher grade of gas. It only does it when I start the car and is at idle, real quiet after its been driven. -Has chrome wheel covers, but they are noisy sometimes. -I just broke the fuel door clip. The door is still functioning, but when you close it, it is off a few degrees. - The back door power lock disconnected and I never got around to fix it so you have to do it manually. Its very easy to access though. - There are scuff marks on the passenger window from someone taking a brick to it and not succeeding at breaking in. The window works fine. - The lock on the glovebox is out, but it still opens and closes; crack in the dash (very small and not noticeable unless i point it out); leather on steering wheel isn't the greatest, but it has a nice cover now; tint needs redone but still looks really good (some bubbling and one corner ripped off). Overall, the car looks good and runs well, but I don't know how much I should ask for with the downfalls. I was aiming for $2,200 but some people say I should ask higher. Does that price seem fair, or too low? Most Galants on Craigslist in my area similar to my car (miles and year) are going for about $3,000 or more. But this is my traveling car and I can't insure it anymore so I am not worried about getting top dollar out of it. Just don't want it to rot away. KBB values it as $2,410. Trade-in $1300 I was going to fix the problems, but the car is older with high miles, so I didn't feel it was necessary. They are cheap fixes, but i'd rather invest money into my BMW than a cheap Galant. I am going to give them a list like this one explaining the problems. I just need a good price range to start out at. Mechanically, it runs great. Mitsubishi just used cheap plastic parts that break easy and everything still functions like it should so I didn't feel the need to fix.
How to add chrome to plastic? I have a 06 Honda Civic and the 'H' emblem on my steering wheel peeled off (about a centimeter stripped off) because I used abrasive spray to rub it when I was cleaning it. Anyone currently or know how to be spondered by RockStar Energy? I have a very nice Nissan Titan, Custom Grills, Custom Wheels (Off road black chrome and chrome, custom Flow Master exause system. My truck is very clean and looks very very nice, I see people driving around all the time plastered with Rock Star decals and I've HEARD that if you do that they make your cay payment for you as long as you are a rolling advertisement for them. 1987 Chevy S10 Blazer 4 X 4, opinion on this model? 144K original miles on it. Two door. Straight body. Minor rust on front end. Chrome bumpers. Trailing hitch. Clean interior. Supposetly trans was rebuilt in Jan. (How can we tell this) New tires. Runs very smooth. Lots of rattles interior. Not sure yet if the 4 wheel drive works. Headliner intack, not falling. No major rips in seats. Small oil leak, not sure as to where it is coming from. They are asking $1500.00 Is it worth it? Do these motors last? This would be a 1st time vehicle for our son. He only wants an SUV, and he thought he was getting my Rodeo. Not! We are willing to pay up to $1500.00 for his first car. Supposetly the person that owns it, is the 2nd owner. We are not too concerned on the gas mileage being he will be using it local here. No long distance, for now. Kelly Blue Book only goes to 1988, but I guess I can just guess at what it is worth.

Washing cars for an odd job? I'm 16. Gas isn't cheap, and I NEED it. I need some cash flow, but it's so hard to find a job nowadays, I won't have any luck, and I need something that will work around school, I think I've got a solution: detailing cars. I do mine every week and people are always commenting on how good it looks, it's something I enjoy, and I'm skilled at it. Now, I've got a few people that are interested, and I need to know how much I should charge for my individual services. Here's what they are: 1) Basic wash (wash the whole car, clean the windows, optional wax job) 2) Semi-basic wash (A basic wash with wheels detailed and tires shined, optional wax job) 3) "Balls Out" (Wash, windows, tires, wheels, UV protection and restoration on black exterior accessories, any chrome would be polished, very light scratches removed, wax job) I could clean the interior as well, but I haven't included that as one of my provided services, and no one has asked about it, so I probably won't end up doing that. Can chromed whel rims sustain damage if exposed to carwash detergent? I find that quite hard to believe. However, a colleague of mine from a weekend sport-racing club told me that chrome rims shouldn't be allowed to get in contact with carwash detergent. How much is my 1983 Camaro Worth? Im thinking about selling it. Its a '83 blue camaro base with iroc-z hood and wheels. It has a 305 small block with 22,000 miles on it. It has new MSD plug wires, E-3 plugs, chrome valve covers, rear tires, custom exhaust, fuel pump, lines, all new fluids, and all that good stuff. I cleaned the interior to perfection. The transmission is going out. If i included a master rebuild kit how much could i sell it for? Would it be better to rebuild the tranny myself and then sell it? Id like an idea on what to do and how much i could get out of it. I bought it for $1800 and probably put around 600 bucks into it. Ok, im looking @ a car to buy...i've had several mustangs, and stuff, mostly newer...and i have had a 70 chevelle, but it was a pile...anyways, lemme tell you about the car 70 chevelle malibu (ss clone) 454 stock 4 spd 12 bolt posi stainless dual exhaust -------------------- 4 wheel power drum (which suck, lol) ladder bars ------------------------ interior is like brand spanking new, except it needs a replacement package tray and sail pannels. they look like new...but the tray is warped. ------------------------ underneath the car...you could EAT off it...not one spec of rust, very clean ------------------------- red with white ss stripes --------------------------- body is striaght and the lines are premium and flush ------------------------------ in my opinion, car would not need new paint for another 5 years or more, its very shiny and lusters ------------------------------- chrome is pretty decent, i would personally replace the rear bumper if i wanted to go to a show. the bad: gas gauge dont work, speedo dont work, has a cracked edge on the taillight, and the car has a few paint chips... the car looks like one you could drive every day, and still take to shows on the weekends.... you've heard of a 10 footer? this is about a 2 footer...looks amazing from only 2 or 3 feet away, but to the trained eye, i found some poorly finished body filler, some turtling in the paint (no bubbles), and possibly a crack in some filler, unless its a crack in the paint, but i suspect filler... i think its worth it...they are asking 15,000. sound about right? p.s. i know its impossible to tell without seeing it...but try to picture it from my description....cars in this condition on ebay have been selling for 18-20...so i thought i might take a chance....any input is appreciated. p.s.s.- also, imo, it looks like the kind of car where, if you were not happy, you could scuff it down, and have it painted, and could spend less than a day doing work on it..the body looks that nice...

Will using brillo or SOS pads to clean chrome or alloy car wheels scratch them? I am trying to clean a van for a friend of mine, and the brake dust and rust is very bad on the wheels. They are the stock wheels. It is a Chrysler minivan. I don't want to scratch the wheels- but simply using a handcloth and soap is not cleaning them that well. Some of the brake dust has come off, but a lot of it remains. These wheels are astonishingly filthy. They probably haven't been cleaned in two or three years. Anyways, I am considering using oven cleaner. I understand that this will work to remove the brake dust and grime. Is this so? What is the best way to clean aluminum alloy wheels.? Has anyone used CLR Metal cleaner to clean their aluminum alloy wheels? The problem was that my brake calipers froze which grinded fine metal dust from the rotors on to the wheels. Being that its winter it immediately rusted and which then stained the wheel. I know CLR household cleaner removes rust and this is their equivalent cleaner for cars but does it work? Does it damage the coating on the wheel? The wheels are not chrome, they have a brushed metal look. They seem to have a coating on them but I am not sure its laquer.

The Chrysler dealership is rejecting claim for chrome wheels of my 2006 Pt cruiser conv (bubbled and rusted).? They are telling me that it was due to neglect! I bought this car a couple of months ago. The previous owner was quite on the top of things. He had done all scheduled maintenence. The car is very clean, except the wheels, and still under warranty. It only has 21K on it. The wheel rims are "chrome". The dealer is telling me that it was oxidized due to not cleaning the break powder off of it. I have seen a lot older cars that were really neglected, but their rims look a lot better than this car! I beleive there was a deffect on the metal. Chrome wheels should not look like that after less than 2 years of driving. Any ideas where I can get some help fight the dealership and/or Chrysler corp. on this? Please help! The dealership claims that not cleaning the "break dust" from the rims have caused this. I only purchased this car 2 months ago from the 1st owner, however, I know for a fact that the prvious owner was very maticulous about maintaining the car mechanically (have all the receipts) and the car looks very clean. chrome wheels and the beach? I live about a block off the beach.I have chrome rims.They have begun to rust. I pointed the rust out to a mechanic (when my truck was getting a brake job).He said that I could have them re-chromed in a way (as long I stayed away from the acid based cleaner) that all I would have to do is rinse them daily in order to keep them from rusting. This mechanic also informed me that, for the most part, most chrome rims from the factory usually rust because of an imperfection under the chrome. I found the best non-acid wheel cleaner? I own alot of cars and tried so many wheels cleaners and been disappointed with the results. But, I finally found the best wheel cleaner. Its called Brown Royal wheel cleaner. It works great on clearcoated, chrome and painted wheels. It is safe and will not stain the wheels. I use it on my 99 navigator alloy wheels. It even cleans brake dust on tires and it cleans whitewalls too. I found it online. I am so excited that I just had to let people know about it.

The asking price of a 1980 cm 200T Twinstar? My wife's uncle recently past away and he owned a 1980 Honda CM 200T Twinstar. Its a little rough looking with some rust and tarnish on the chrome parts, wheels, and exhaust. The tires look original but in somewhat decent shape. The odometer reads 15,049 miles and the oil in the crankcase looks nice and clean and it runs. Her aunt has no idea what price she should ask for it. Does anyone have any ideas?
is it ok to be a cop if you are someone who listens to rap music and drives a black person car? i am a guy in my early 20's, i listen to rap music and i drive a car with big chrome wheels, loud sound system in the trunk, customized everything on my car, flashy paint job coming soon, you get the point. i recently applied to be a police in my area and i am well qualified. i have a normal haircut, clean shaved, no tattoos, no piercings...i have the appearance of a good citizen. once selected to the police academy and so on, will i be stereotyped by everyone who works as a police, because i know i will have to work with cops alot and park my car at the station. i know cops stereotype and racial profile black people, but since my interest and hobby is exactly that, would i be hated upon?
fuel eco, add ons, HP, smart maintanance, help my car? ok my car is a 92 cadillac with a gas hogging 4.9 v8pfi motor. i am willing to invest 500 to 1500 in my car. but want a good return on my investment. mainly in the form of hp, fuel econ, and bolstering long term durability.... in that order. with that said i'll tell u what i have already done to the car in my 5 yrs of owning. replaced battery, the terminals and alternator, replaced spark plugs cap and rotor?? pcv valve o2 senser set timeing and wires too.. i did all that myself about a year and half after i bought it . so should i repeat??? in the last 2 years i've bought new 20in chrome wheels & tires and new shocks, replace the water pump and starter and got a flowmaster 50 muffler not to mention the ignition when some asshole tried to steal it.. and here are some of the ideas i want to run by yah msd/crane ignition and new "nice" plugs? flush tran, motor, injector cleaning? should i worry about gaskets or timeing chain? k&n filter? thanks u! once u go lac u never go back
